Waiting...

September 07, 2017
Hello Friends,
Long time, no see..you might have thought! My apologies for being away for such a long while.

I am back with another canvas mix media layout today. The colours of my layout are influenced by Words and Paintery challenge. This time my roots show up! Being an Indian first and given the Gujarati upbringing,  I have always loved our ethnic designs made with the traditional elements. So here I try to capture that famed wall "Mud work" art with mirrors , 'Kedia' - a Gujarati men's wear , 'Mojdi' - a traditional foot wear , 'Turban' - a traditional accessory for head and 'Jali' - a traditional carving or textures , we generally have at our houses.

Let me transport you to gone by era. An era where traders from one village visited another for business purpose. Travelling across the regions in the bullock cart, the time to return back to home was marked with the gap of days, sometimes months. All this while women folk,  always stayed alone at home. They kept themselves busy with house hold chores. The hands that were busy at work had a heart that longed for the beloved! Devoid of modern means of communications like a phone or the internet, all they had to rely on were the fond memories and love for their beloved! Along wait prevailed and it made their love for their better half even stronger!
I have used many textures from stencils with the help of texture paste and added a dash of a  little cone work for 'mud work ' art. Played around a bit with layers of ink colour sprays and highlight a traditional Indian man. Added crucial elements of 'Time'. Small stones and die cuts gave its depth. For this layout I used yellow, green and brown colour them, to give the feeling of an old hut, village houses. I hope you like this layout and do share your views!
